The Old Batavia

The Fatahillah Museum has a classical Barok architecture and consists of a main building with two wings on its east and west, complementary building used as an office, court room, and underground prisons.These frightening prison cells have iron balls believed used to detain prisoners and slaves. 

Getting There

The Fatahillah museum is still a favorite site for culture lovers, photographers, local tourists and international tourists (particularly Europeans) and is open from Tuesday through Sunday, from 09:00-16:00 West Indonesia Time. This museum is closed every Monday and public holiday. It is not difficult to reach this old and historic museum by car, busway, taxi or public transportation.
