Sempu Island is a small island located in the south of the island of Java is administratively located in the village of Tambakrejo, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency, East Java. The island is covered with tropical trees covering an area of 877 hectares, this is a nature reserve managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Center East Java (BBKSDA) and the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia. Blue Spring Beach pier to get to the island is Sempu, from here did not take long to cross, less than half an hour and even then with a speed boat so quietly.
Sempu island has different types of ecosystems ranging from coastal forests, mangrove forests, and lowland tropical forests that dominate the whole island. Vegetation found on the island Sempu include bendo (Artocarpus elasticus), triwulan (Terminalia), WADANG (Pterocarpus javanicus), ketapang (Terminalia catappa), waru laut (Hibiscus tiliaceus), pandan (Pandanus tectorius), Mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata and Rhizophora apiculata), and more. Interestingly, the name Sempu said to be taken from the name of one tree species found on the island, but the tree is almost hard to find nowadays.
